In Episode 3 (air date: Oct. 26, 2014), Noah (Dominic West) needed more material for the novel he was writing about and asked Alison (Ruth Wilson) for help. She introduced him to interesting places to check about Montauk, and she also invited him to drop by the town hall meeting to get a feel of the politics of their small community.
While they both agreed they should remain “friends,” it was hard to resist each other. They were exchanging kisses in the library or hiding at the pier to smooch. In fact, in Noah’s storyline, he and Alison had a passionate time by the beach.
Meanwhile, the town hall meeting, which Noah actually missed in Alison’s storyline, but which he came late to in his, showed the culture and history of the community, with families from many generations having bad blood between them. Cole Lockhart (Joshua Jackson) was opposed to the development of a bowling alley, which was Oscar Hodges’ property, citing that these will take away the small town, laidback charm of their community. Oscar called it progress, though, something that Cole didn't seem to like.
In the present day, Noah suggested to the police that they look into the Lockhart family and the Hodges family, as this could provide leads to their murder investigation. It still wasn’t clear who the victim was, however, and what the connection is to Alison and Noah’s affair.

In the upcoming episode, Noah and Alison will be going on a day trip in Block Island, a remote area in Montauk. They will spend the day as lovers, away from prying eyes. But as the teasers will show, it seems that their first romantic date will also lead to their first fight. Do they want the same thing? Is Noah having second thoughts? Alison said something about making it clear that she wanted him, but Noah seemed less committed.
