The Big Bang Theory Season 8 Episode 9 The Septum Deviation

Episode 9 of The Big Bang Theory Season 8 airs Thursday night on CBS. So what will happen when Leonard (Johnny Galecki) has minor surgery in “The Septum Deviation”?

Last week on The Big Bang Theory Season 8, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) shared a sweet moment when the ladies decided to recreate a prom. Sheldon felt pressure to have sex with Amy after hearing this was a common occurrence on prom night. But Amy sweetly told him that they didn’t need to spend the night together until he was ready. Amy then prepared to tell Sheldon that she loved him, but he beat her to it.

This was a big milestone in Sheldon and Amy’s TBBT romance. But based on a blog post from Bialik herself, it doesn’t appear this Big Bang Theory scene will be a major plot point in the forthcoming Season 8 episodes.

“The way our writers operate, it’s not like a soap opera where every single plot line needs to be continued the following episode,” Bialik wrote after last week’s TBBT Season 8 episode. “We may let this sit for a bit to percolate, as we did the big kiss scene from last year  … There is plenty of time to see what happens next. We are in no rush to overanalyze or over-identify (as my therapist says I tend to do) with what this means or doesn’t mean for our characters.”

But while there won’t be a reference to the “love” moment in “The Septum Deviation,” end of Episode 9 might feature a tribute to the late Carol Ann  Susi. Susi, who voiced Howard’s (Simon Helberg) unseen mother on The Big Bang Theory, died of cancer this week.

So what else will happen in Episode 9 of TBBT Season 8? Besides Leonard’s aforementioned surgery, the gang will also deal with the divorce of Raj’s (Kunal Nayyar) parents (Alice Amter and Brian George). This, in turn, will lead Howard and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) to examine their own Big Bang Theory marriage in “The Septum Deviation.”
