Gotham Season 1 Episode 7 Penguin's Umbrella

We knew that Jim Gordon’s pivotal decision to spare The Penguin’s life during the season premiere of Gotham would eventually come back to haunt the young Detective, and tonight’s the night that the Cobblepot chickens come home to roost. At the end of last week Gordon was about to be arrested for the murder of Oswald, but the charges looked to be a bit thin when the umbrella wielding criminal appeared alive and well at the police station. Jim’s partner Bullock was obviously angered to find out that Gordon had lied to him about killing The Penguin, but at least they dodged being arrested.

While the reveal that Oswald was still alive should exonerate Jim, it will also set off a domino effect between the Maroni and Falcone crime families. There’s been a simmering war between them both, and now the Oswald reveal will push the battle over the edge. Tonight’s all new episode, titled Penguin’s Umbrella, is all about the fallout from Oswald’s return.

Falcone realizes that Gordon lied to him and Fish about killing Oswald, and he sends one of his best hit-men after Jim. The hit-man he enlists is named Victor Zsasz, an infamous name in the Batman comic books. Zsasz is a famous serial killer who marks his body for every person he’s killed. In tonight’s episode we get to see the early version of Zsasz before he becomes one of the most notorious killers in Gotham history. All that means Jim will have his hands full when Zsasz comes knocking for his life.

As violence escalates between Maroni and Falcone, Penguin unveils a new piece of his strategy, making Gordon deal with the consequences of sparing his life.
