Scandal Season 4 Episode 5 The Key

Episode 5 of Scandal Season 4 airs Thursday night on ABC. How Will Olivia (Kerry Washington) respond in “The Key” after Jake (Scott Foley) was framed for murder?

Last week on Scandal, Olivia reunited with President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) for the first time since running away with Jake. This time, OPA had to initiate damage control when Fitz’s daughter Karen (Mary Mouser) was caught on video having sex with two random guys while drunk. The parents of one of the boys then demanded millions to keep the sex tape quiet. But Olivia awesomely threatened to publicly accuse the parents of forcing their son to sleep with Karen so they could blackmail the White House.

But while Olivia was able to handle this scandal, she may not be prepared for the news that Jake has been framed for Jerry Jr.’s (Dylan Minnette) death. Fitz discovered that Secret Service agent Tom (Brian Letscher) was caught on video stealing the deadly strain of meningitis that killed the First Son. But when interrogated by Rowan (Joe Morton), Tom insisted he was following Jake’s orders when he stole the virus.

“I don’t think he wanted to,” Letscher said of why he framed Jake for Jerry Jr.’s murder on Scandal Season 4. “I really don’t think he wanted to. However, he also thinks he doesn’t leave that building alive. This was the only chance he has to survive, now that Rowan’s in the room, with that authority. If I say it’s Rowan [who ordered Jerry's death], I have no way of proving that, none. So the only answer I have in the moment is ‘Jake Ballard,’ if I want to live to see another day.”

So what will happen in Episode 5 of Scandal Season 4? The synopsis for “The Key” reveals that Olivia will get worried when Jake stops returning her calls. Meanwhile, Fitz will continue to find out what led to Jerry Jr.’s death, while David (Joshua Malina) will finally find some success in Washington, DC.
