Episode 5 of Grey's Anatomy Season 11 airs Thursday night on ABC. Will Calzona be able to save their marriage in “Bend And Break”?
Last week on Grey's Anatomy Season 11, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) threatened to resign from Grey Sloan following the revelation that Richard (James Pickens Jr.) was her father. In a last ditch effort to convince Maggie to stay, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) paired her brother Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Maggie together during surgery. When Derek discovered Maggie’s true identity, he welcomed her with open arms and convinced her to stick around. Maggie even bonded a bit with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) as they read their mother's diary.
Also on last week’s Grey's Anatomy flashbacks revealed why Richard left Ellis and returned to his wife all those years ago. Turns out, he was jealous of Ellis’ Harper Avery nomination, which made him fear he would always be envious of her if they stayed together. Meanwhile, Alex (Justin Chambers) was dismayed to learn that Bailey (Chandra Wilson) was unanimously voted to take Cristina’s (Sandra Oh) board seat.
So what will happen on Episode 5 of Grey's Anatomy Season 11? “Bend And Break” will revolve around Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) trying to fix their marriage through therapy. But according to Ramirez, the therapist’s suggestion could drive Calzona further apart.
“Everything leading up to this point has been a series of band aids,” Ramirez told EW.com before Episode 5 of Grey's Anatomy Season 11. “Callie and Arizona are basically not communicating. Callie has some resistance towards therapy, but therapy turns out to be a great place to air grievances and concerns and to also bring up the miscommunication that has led them up to this point. They definitely get a chance to clear up some stuff.”
As Calzona’s marriage crumbles, both ladies will immerse themselves into their work. Callie will focus on the Veterans’ project, while Arizona will do all she can to impress Dr. Herman (Geena Davis) in Episode 5 of Grey's Anatomy Season 11. “Bend And Break” will also feature Richard asking Bailey for advice.
